Liebe Freunde,
My world around trip 2008 – the sky is the limit – comes to an end now…
6 month ago I had the one-time chance to leave everything behind me to experience the world…
I still remember how exciting this lookout has been!
Though I had no idea, how stunning and different the following time should be…
While I was on my way around the world, many things happened to you my friends as well…
Two babys were born, Tiziano and Liam…. May your lifes will be of love and happiness!
Some more babys are “on the way” to be born within the next month… Ari, Thomas and Eva: I wish you all the best for your new/extended family!!
Two parents and a friend of my friends died…
Two friends moved to a new place…
Two of you started a new job…
And as well two of you have been married…. J Congratulations!!!
I started my around the world trip with my brand new backpack
with my friends Dagmar and Andreas in Bangkok and I finished it in Bangkok as well…
Daggi and Andi, you became very special to me within the past years and I want to thank you for our friendship! I always enjoy being together with you…
Since I already wrote down my experiences in my blog very detailed, I don’t want to bother you anymore with my little stories… J
But I definitely have the necessity to write about my “conclusions” after this journey…
I want to do it for you -my friends- who went along with me for the past month; but at the same time I want to write it for myself… as a way to handle my experiences and as a way to keep it in my mind for the rest of my life…
After all this time, after all the exciting moments and experiences it became very clear to me, what has become the most important parts of my journey:
I have met many interesting, fun, supporting, passionate and valuable people around the world
v Above all I want to thank Ruben for the special time!
You are a very good man with good values and I learned much about cultural, political, economic, fun and emotional aspects of life…
Gonna miss you!
v Adi and Dror
First time I met guys from Israel and I am much looking forward to see you again in Tel Aviv next year… Promised!
Cross my fingers for your new job-challenges…
v Beata and Anthony
You guys made it much more comfortable and fun to travel through some exciting parts of Myanmar and I enjoyed the time together!
Hope to see you soon in London or Barth…
v Anne
My dear Anne, you showed me a new part of my life… Life was never before as easy and fun as with you and your friends in Byron Bay…
I long for you…
Thank you for everything!
v Glen
You showed Helga and me your own Christchurch… We loved that!
You are a very nice guy and I cross my fingers for your love!
v LA
My little brother, you touched me in a very special way and taught me how to enjoy life through littlest things…
Will never forget your smile and be sure I will be back to see you again in Laos next year!
v Katja
How lucky I am!
After having you lost as a friend for almost 5 years I am so much happy to have you back in my life again!!!
Looking forward to whatever lies ahead in our lifes…
I have seen some of the most beautiful, untouched and indescribable places in the world
v Laos and the fascinating Mekong
v Myanmar with the shining Schwedagon-Pagoda and the Inle-Lake where I met the most friendliest people
v The great wall in China, a long-time dream
v Japan with its old traditions on the one side and its extroverted kids
v Australia with its sandy Fraser Island, the huge humpback wales, the most beautiful sunsets and the most elegant building – the Sydney Opera
v New Zealand with the unique ice on the Fox Glacier, the mystic Milford Sound the sunny skiing fields, the coolest surfer on earth and some really scary sealions
v Bora Bora with its most colourful water, the huge lemonsharks and my great birthday
I have reflected myself so often learned so much about the real values in my life
v Above all: I have learned that our lifes are just as long as it takes a stalagmite to grow 1 cm…
So our life is just 1cm… J
Don’t waste your time and be happy in your life!
v I have experienced some very simple aspects of life
and I have seen and felt that wealth doesn’t automatically give you more joy and happiness in life!
Sometimes a smiling face is so much more!
v And I have seen many of these smiles…
v I have excessed my own boarders sometimes and am very proud of myself for me having been so brave sometimes
v I touched the Buddhism and it gave me some very relaxed moments and I have learned much about tolerance
v Due to my experiences I became more politically engaged.
I will support the “Laos-language-project” in the future as well as I will follow the China-Tibet-conflict very carefully.
One day I will definitely travel to Tibet!
v I experienced how easy life can be and that it is very important sometimes just to let yourself flow, like I did in Byron Bay
v I discovered how important freedom is in our life… As well for our feet sometimes! J
v I realized who easy and how important it is to get in contact with other people.
We all need friends!
And I am so proud to have you as my friends!
So: My world around trip 2008 has been the time of my life so far!!!
And never forget:
The sky is the limit…
I close this book now and send you a huge hug,
Michael
